Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, engaged with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Georgia, Didier Trebucq, to review economic cooperation priority trends and prospects.
The Minister and Resident Coordinator focused on inclusive economic growth, green energy, energy efficiency, digital transformation, transport, logistics, sustainable tourism and education issues.
Mariam Kvrivishvili and Didier Trebucq paid particular attention to the priorities envisaged by the Framework Program for Cooperation with the UN, in particular, more effective relations with the UN’s different agencies to accelerate economic growth. They also highlighted the UN’s greater engagement for the development of the Middle Corridor and the country’s transport and logistics infrastructure.
Mariam Kvrivishvili familiarized the UN Resident Coordinator with the implemented and scheduled infrastructure projects, such as the Railway Modernization Project and Anaklia Deep Sea Project.
“The sides discussed prospects of cooperation in the green energy sector, new technologies in the field, including green hydrogen production, the South Caucasus energy system, which will be linked to that of the EU, that will be strategically significant for all stakeholders participating in the project,” the Ministry said.
Deputy Economy Ministers Gennady Arveladze and Tamar Ioseliani attended the meeting.
