Georgian Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze on Tuesday held an introductory meeting with representatives from the sector, heads of domestic clinics and a Healthcare Association to discuss ongoing reforms.

The Ministry said the meeting discussed the Diagnosis-Related Group financing for medical institutions, regulatory mechanisms and standards, development of primary care and necessary changes for development of medical services in the country.

Sarjveladze highlighted “protecting the interests of patients” and provision of “high-quality” services as the Ministry’s priorities, and noted “active communication” with the sector had “played an important role” for the outcome.

The sides agreed to “actively continue work to address existing challenges”, the Ministry added.
