State-owned company MTA has requested a simplified procurement worth GEL 30.17 million to upgrade and expand infrastructure at the Gudauri ski resort.
The project includes dismantling old ski lifts, installing new surface lifts (T-bars) and a covered conveyor belt, as well as equipping ski slopes with an artificial snowmaking system.
According to documents published by the State Procurement Agency, the planned works include the removal of the Khada (600m) and Snowpark (815m) lifts and installation of two new surface lifts with a combined length of 1,400 meters, costing an estimated GEL 9.1 million. A new 200-meter covered conveyor belt at the Snowpark area is planned at a cost of GEL 2.4 million, while an artificial snowmaking system for the Soliko and Kikilo slopes (7.5 km in total) is estimated at GEL 18.65 million.
Works are expected to begin in the second half of August 2026 and be completed by December 15, 2026, ahead of the 2026–2027 winter ski season. MTA said a standard tender process could delay implementation due to the region’s difficult alpine climate and tight deadlines.
The government assigned MTA to carry out new infrastructure projects at Gudauri on July 25 as part of efforts to develop the resort and increase its tourism potential. The company will also be responsible for obtaining all required permits, licenses, and technical documentation to ensure the safe operation of the new facilities.
