Georgia’s Mountain Trails Agency (MTA) has signed a €5.2 million contract with Polish company SUPERSNOW S.A. to install a new artificial snowmaking system at the Gudauri ski resort. The contract is dated September 17, 2026.
The project covers the full installation of snowmaking systems on the Vartsla Mountain, Soliko and Kikilo ski runs, with a total length of about 7.5 kilometers. The Soliko run is approximately 3.7 km long and Kikilo 3.8 km. The turnkey project includes site studies, design, equipment production and delivery, construction and installation, testing, commissioning and staff training.
The imported goods and services are valued at €5,198,965 excluding VAT, while local construction works in Georgia will cost GEL 3 million including VAT. MTA will pay 30% upfront — €1,359,689.50 and GEL 1.5 million — with the remaining 70% (€3,839,275.50 and GEL 1.5 million) payable after final acceptance, no later than March 31, 2027.
The system is due to be ready by December 1, with final testing and commissioning completed by December 15, 2026. It will operate at temperatures from -25°C to +1.5°C and provide full coverage within 120 working hours at a wet-bulb temperature of -4°C. The project includes 75 snow guns, 75 hydrant wells, a high-pressure pumping station, air compressor, electrical and fiber-optic networks, and Snowmatic automation software. SUPERSNOW will provide five years of free software updates, train eight MTA employees for at least 20 days, and provide a two-year quality warranty. The company must also submit a 5% unconditional and irrevocable bank guarantee, while late delivery will incur a penalty of 0.02% of the contract value per calendar day.
