Against the backdrop of existing challenges, partnership with the International Monetary Fund is particularly important, - Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishvili said at a briefing held together with the mission of the International Monetary Fund.
As he noted, the Government of Georgia, in close cooperation with the Fund, constantly monitors economic development trends. According to Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili, Georgian economy is characterized by a sustainable recovery in the post-pandemic period. Also, the year 2022 started with positive trends.
"The very rapid recovery of tourism is noteworthy. There is also significant growth in the direction of exports. Against the background of global and regional challenges caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine, as a result of the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation, certain changes took place and transit corridors shifted to the south, which, naturally, has a positive impact on the economy of Georgia. It is worth noting that the negative effects of the crisis caused by the war are offset by the very rapid recovery of the post-pandemic period, which has grown our economy faster than planned and allowed us to have double-digit economic growth this year. full recovery of the deficit", - noted the Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili.
According to him, despite the high rates of economic growth of Georgia, the economic and geopolitical risks in the region and the world are still high, and inflation remains one of the most important challenges, even though certain downward trends are observed.
