Bakuriani plans to begin construction of a new multifunctional hospital next spring to improve healthcare services at the resort, Eka Orjonikidze, head of the Bakuriani Development Agency, told the TV program Business Course.
The resort currently has a small polyclinic with an X-ray facility. During the peak winter season, additional traumatologists and abdominal surgeons are brought in, but existing infrastructure struggles to meet demand. The new project was agreed upon with the Ministry of Health.
The hospital is currently in the design phase, with construction expected to begin in spring. Given Bakuriani’s climate and short construction season, the facility could take approximately 1–1.5 years to complete.
Orjonikidze also said most road infrastructure works are expected to be completed before this winter season. However, parking shortages and traffic congestion may remain challenges for the resort.
