Starting September 1, 2024, new regulations for taxi drivers will take effect in Armenia. The State Revenue Committee announced significant changes in the regulation of passenger transportation.

According to the new rules, all taxi drivers must connect to the tax authority’s electronic system and issue electronic receipts to passengers. Additionally, a special license and payment of a state fee will now be required for operating passenger transport services.

Armenian authorities have introduced strict penalties for violating the new regulations. Taxi drivers operating without a license or miscalculating the state fee will face a fine of 500,000 AMD (approximately $1,288).

A fine of 200,000 AMD (around $515) will be imposed for each instance of transporting passengers without issuing an electronic receipt or for violating the rules of using a cash register.
