On September 1, 2024, new regulations governing taxi services came into effect in Armenia. The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia has reported on the initial results of these changes.

According to the new requirements, passenger transportation by cars and taxis within the country can now only be carried out by organizations, individual entrepreneurs, or individuals who have joined the SRC system. A key requirement is the mandatory issuance of an electronic receipt through an electronic cash register.

On the very next day after the rules took effect, September 2, the SRC recorded significant progress:

  • 20,000 citizens providing taxi services through electronic platforms registered with the tax authorities through a simplified procedure.
  • About 10,000 drivers working through electronic platforms generated approximately 150,000 electronic receipts.
  • The total transaction amount reached around 192 million drams ($500,000).

To simplify the work of individual taxi drivers, the SRC developed a special mobile app called "My Tax." It is available for both Android and iOS devices and can be found in app stores under the name "My Tax Armenia."

These innovations are aimed at increasing transparency in the taxi market, improving service quality, and ensuring fair competition in the tax sphere.
