Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has rejected claims about the country’s so-called “Arabization,” calling the narrative false and politically motivated. Speaking during a televised debate on Rustavi 2, he said that despite a months-long campaign by opposition figures, the issue was not even raised during recent discussions, which he argues proves its lack of substance.
Kobakhidze also addressed the large-scale Eagle Hills investment project, emphasizing its economic significance. According to him, the project is valued at $6 billion and is expected to contribute around 11 billion GEL to the economy, including 7 billion GEL in budget revenues over time.
The Prime Minister stressed that the land involved in the project has not been sold to investors. Instead, a joint venture has been established in which the state retains equal decision-making power, ensuring that no land can be transferred without government approval.
He added that the project goes beyond residential development, including hotels, recreational infrastructure, and a marina on the Gonio coastline. Kobakhidze challenged critics to present alternative investments capable of generating similar economic benefits, highlighting the project’s scale and long-term impact.
