Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated that no Georgian company was found capable of completing the Vake Park cascade rehabilitation project. Speaking at a Tbilisi City Assembly session, he noted that the remaining works will be carried out in the coming years with the involvement of foreign contractors.
“Vake Park is one of the city’s largest recreational spaces, and its rehabilitation has been planned in multiple phases. Most of the work has been completed, but the so-called cascade, which is in very poor condition, remains unfinished. Unfortunately, no local companies could execute this project to the required standards,” Kaladze said.
The mayor added that his deputy, Andria Basilia, has been actively involved in preparing the project, finding construction and design companies, and coordinating foreign participation. With this approach, the cascade’s rehabilitation will be fully completed in the coming years.
The Vake Park cascade project, initially awarded to LLC Dagi for GEL 31.8 million, was the only bidder in the March tender. The Tbilisi City Hall had set a maximum budget of GEL 47 million, meaning the contract was awarded at GEL 15.2 million below the limit. According to the city’s preliminary 2026 budget, GEL 18 million is allocated next year for completing the cascade rehabilitation.
