GD Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze commented on the recent summoning of ambassadors, stressing that such actions are a normal diplomatic measure directed at the states they represent.
“All ambassadors represent a state, and when you summon an ambassador, you are using a kind of diplomatic measure towards that state, this is logical. An ambassador does not act independently,” Kobakhidze told journalists.
He criticized what he described as serious problems within the European bureaucracy, adding that ambassadors’ actions are a reflection of those issues.
“Not everyone behaves the way the ambassadors of the European Union, Britain and Germany behave. We say that the European bureaucracy is in a difficult situation today, and this applies not only to EU institutions but also to the structures of individual states. There are serious problems in the European bureaucracy, and this is reflected in what the ambassadors are doing,” - Kobakhidze stated.
For reference, following the German ambassador, the British Ambassador to Georgia, Gareth Ward, was also summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
