As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, in coordination with the Kakheti District Prosecutor's Office, one person has been detained on the fact of storage and transportation of excisable goods subject to marking, without excise marks, in particularly large quantities.
As a result of investigative activities, a total number of 14 500 boxes of different brands of non-excised cigarettes, namely: 2 500 packs of „WINSTON“, 2 000 packs of „KENT“, 2 500 packs of „MARLBORO“, and 7 500 packs of „SOBRANIE“, intended for sale, were seized, the total value of which equals GEL 125 100.
Investigation is underway under the third part of the Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which as a type of sentence, envisages imprisonment from six to eight years.
