Lithuanian company Girteka, one of the largest logistics companies in Europe, has become a beneficiary of the FDI grant program implemented by Invest in Georgia - Enterprise Georgia. Girteka is the program's second recipient.
Over the next three years, the company will invest 1 million euros and add 400 new jobs as part of the responsibilities taken under the program. Overall, 15% of the investment will be granted back to the company upon fulfilment of the obligations.
The purpose of the FDI grant program is to encourage new projects from potential and existing investors in Georgia. In particular, make new and additional investments in sectors with high added value, which in turn ensures the creation of new jobs and the strengthening of the economy.
International companies can receive up to 15% cashback through the state program for implementing projects in specific export-oriented business operations.
In order to evaluate the investment potential of the country, Girteka actively collaborated with Invest in Georgia team of Enterprise Georgia during the decision-making process and has chosen Georgia due to the qualified workforce and simplicity of doing business.
The company established a Global Services Office (GBS) in Tbilisi last year, employing 65 staff at this point, and expects to expand to 200 by the end of this year.
Girteka has a global workforce of 23,500 people. The company's 9,200 ground vehicles carry out 800,000 trips in Europe, Scandinavia, and the CIS countries annually.
