Due to the 10% tariff imposed by the US on Georgia, our partners do not expect any major changes, - Akaki Tsopurashvili, CEO of Shumi Winery, told BM.GE.

According to Akaki Tsopurashvili, the company exports wine to the US market with the help of partners. After talking with partners, the company's CEO says that no special changes are expected for wine and the exports to this market are not in danger.

"We had a conversation with the partners of the "Shumi" winery in the USA about how the changes would affect the business. We were interested in our partners' opinion on the export of Georgian wine. The partners do not expect major changes due to the additional tariffs and believe that tariff increase for Georgia is smaller compared to other countries. This will not pose any threat to our future plans in the American market and they are quite optimistic," said the winery's executive director.

US President Donald Trump has imposed additional tariffs on more than 180 countries. Georgia is also included in this with a basic tariff of 10%.
