The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songhulashvili, stated that the state’s grape pricing policy introduced this year has already delivered positive results, with a large share of the 2025 harvest classified as high quality.
According to the Ministry, Songhulashvili made the remarks after today’s government session, highlighting the significance of the changes introduced during this year’s harvest season.
“The grape harvest, Georgia’s main agricultural product, has begun. This is a special season for our winegrowers. At the start of the year, we announced that a new system would be introduced, setting different prices for grapes based on their quality. A higher price was established for high-quality grapes, further encouraging improvements in production. Today we are already seeing the results: a large part of the harvest is high quality, which proves that our policy has paid off,” Songhulashvili said.
He added that the government will continue to focus on raising the quality of grapes, ensuring better competitiveness for Georgian wine on both local and international markets.
“In the coming years, the emphasis will be even more on high-quality grapes. I can already say that the 2025 harvest will be exceptional,” the Minister noted.
