Parliament has approved in the first reading a legislative amendment that establishes a new position of State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies. According to the proposal, former State Security Service (SSS) head Mamuka Mdinaradze is expected to be appointed to this role.
The new minister will be responsible for coordinating Georgia’s law enforcement bodies. The position did not previously exist, and it will operate within the Government Administration without forming a separate institutional structure. Staffing and administrative support will also be handled by the Government Administration, meaning no additional positions will be created.
The bill was supported by 83 members of parliament during the vote.
