Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, welcoming today the leaders of CSTO member countries in Yerevan for a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, said that Armenia's chairmanship in the organization that is ending today has been very eventful, marking, particularly, the 20th anniversary of the CSTO.
"Despite the anniversaries, our mood, unfortunately, is by no means jubilee. In the last two years, Armenia, a CSTO member country, has been aggressed at least three times by Azerbaijan. It is disappointing that Armenia's membership to the CSTO has not restrained Azerbaijan from aggressive actions and even more so - up to now we have not been able to reach a decision on CSTO's response to Azerbaijani aggression," he said.
Pashinyan stressed that these facts have caused huge damage to the image of the CSTO both inside and outside the country.
"I regard it as the main failure of Armenia's chairmanship in the CSTO. I can say the same about the escalation on the border between our allies Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan," he said.
At the same time, Pashinyan noted Armenia's successful actions as CSTO chairing country, particulalrly, the prompt response to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's appeal to support them in the restoration of law and order in the country in January this year.
"In this case, we solved the issue overnight, which allowed Kazakhstan to avoid domestic chaos," he stressed, ARKA reports.
