On July 30, a meeting took place in Tehran between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the newly elected President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
The Prime Minister's Office reported that Pezeshkan confirmed the high-level agreements previously reached: "The centuries-old friendship, close historical and cultural ties between our two peoples serve as a foundation for further development of bilateral cooperation. We are ready to continue our dialogue and further enrich the bilateral cooperation agenda through joint efforts."
In response, Pashinyan stated, "My presence here today is a testament to our commitment to deepening Armenia-Iran relations at the highest level and strengthening cooperation."
According to the statement, Masoud Pezeshkan emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in the region for Iran and the necessity of resolving all issues through dialogue.
Pashinyan also highlighted the significance of Iranian participation in the construction of the North-South Highway, particularly the Agarak-Kajaran section, and stressed the importance of modernizing the Armenia-Iran border checkpoint.
Nikol Pashinyan traveled to Iran to participate in the official inauguration ceremony of the Iranian president. Masoud Pezeshkan, a representative of the reformist wing, was elected president in the elections held in Iran on July 5. He became the ninth president of Iran after the early presidential elections, which were held following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a plane crash.
