Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref held a meeting on October 1 in Yerevan, where they discussed prospects for strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

The main focus of the talks was the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The parties explored opportunities for collaboration in key sectors, including energy, infrastructure, road construction, and tourism. Pashinyan emphasized that developing economic relations with Iran is one of the priorities of the Armenian government.

Special attention was given to the Armenian government’s "Crossroads of the World" project, aimed at unlocking regional communication routes. Pashinyan highlighted Armenia’s readiness to promote trade and economic relations based on the principles of sovereignty, equality, and reciprocity. The Iranian side expressed its support for this project, opening new prospects for economic cooperation in the region.

Aref confirmed Iran’s interest in expanding multilateral cooperation with Armenia. He also stressed the importance of maintaining stability in the region for the development of economic ties and expressed support for Armenia’s territorial integrity.

Earlier, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan reported a sharp increase in trade between the two countries, which has reached $700 million, with an ambitious goal of increasing this figure to $3 billion.
