Georgia imported 1,010 tonnes of pineapples worth $1.3 million in the first half of 2026, up from 818 tonnes valued at $830,000 during the same period last year, according to official trade statistics.
The value of pineapple imports increased by 61.1% year-on-year, while import volumes rose by 23.4%, indicating that the growth was driven not only by higher demand but also by a significant increase in purchase prices.
The average import price climbed from $1,015 per tonne in the first half of 2025 to $1,325 per tonne in January–June 2026, marking a 30.5% annual increase.
Turkey remained Georgia's largest pineapple supplier, exporting 672 tonnes worth $782,000, followed by the Netherlands with 318 tonnes valued at $520,000. Smaller quantities were also imported from Costa Rica, Thailand, Germany, and Uganda. The figures suggest that while demand for pineapples continues to grow, Georgian importers are paying substantially higher prices than a year ago.
