PM Met With A Newly-Appointed US Ambassador Robin Dunnigan

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met H.E. Robin L. Dunnigan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Georgia upon her appointment on Monday.

The Head of Government of Georgia congratulated the US diplomat on the launch of her mission in the country and wished every success in her endeavors.

Meeting held within the Government Administration was focused on the strategic cooperation existing between Georgia and USA, as well as on the exchange of ideas on current affairs; readiness was expressed towards strengthening and extending the multi-dimensional strategic partnership between the countries.

Attention was paid to the current development of events in the world and challenges faced in the realm of security. When discussing the regional security issues, Irakli Garibashvili noted that Georgia remains ready to contribute to regional peace and stability. Irakli Garibashvili spoke with Robin L. Dunnigan about one of the key priorities of the foreign policy pursued by the Government of Georgia – significance of getting a status of the EU Candidate Country. The Prime Minister of Georgia shared information with the newly-appointed US diplomat on the reforms implemented and adjustments made by Georgia with an aim of complying with EU recommendations. The Head of Government of Georgia expressed hopes that reforms implemented by the country will be duly acknowledged.

The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked the newly-appointed US Ambassador for the unwavering support of the USA towards the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.

After the meeting, Robin L. Dunnigan noted that US President Joe Biden, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Ambassador – all – look forward to further deepening the partnership and friendship of Georgia and the USA.

“I greatly appreciated meeting the Prime Minister today. As I told the Prime Minister – President Biden, Secretary Blinken and I – all very much look forward to further deepening our partnership and friendship. In our 31 years of being friends and partners, the United States has supported Georgia’s education sector, healthcare sector and your infrastructure. Georgian soldiers have stood by American soldiers side by side in Afghanistan, in Iraq and in Kosovo.

I also told the Prime Minister that I look forward to supporting Georgia’s further integration into the West, into the EU and NATO. I want to expand our people-to-people ties and our economic relationship. So, I am so much looking forward to being here and getting to know this country and Georgian people better” noted Robin L. Dunnigan.
