PM: New Poti Berth Project Marks Major Step for Georgia’s Economic Growth

ირაკლი კობახიძე

I am pleased to announce that today, in Poti, we are laying the foundation for the construction of a new berth. This event is of great importance for developing our country’s economic and transportation potential, stated the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the ceremony marking the launch of the new berth project at the Poti Port.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the expansion of the Poti Sea Port is further evidence that Georgia is establishing itself as a regional logistics hub.

“This project brings together the government, Georgian businesses, and American financial institutions around a common goal. I would like to extend special thanks to the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). This project is a clear demonstration that cooperation based on trust, shared values, and sustainable development objectives always delivers tangible results,” he stated.

Additionally, Prime Minister Kobakhidze noted the significance of a Georgian company initiating and implementing this large-scale project.

“The success of PACE Group demonstrates that local businesses possess the expertise and resources necessary to undertake major projects alongside international partners—projects that will shape the economic future of our country,” he remarked.

The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has signed a second loan agreement worth $25 million with PACE Group. This financing will be used to complete the construction of the second berth at the New Sea Port of Poti.
