Production of 111 new metro cars for Tbilisi has begun in China, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said during his working visit to the country.
Kaladze said he will inspect the production process and visit the facility where the metro cars are being manufactured. He added that some completed cars will soon be sent to Tbilisi.
The mayor said the purchase marks the first renewal of Tbilisi’s metro fleet in recent years. He described the start of production as an important step in updating the city’s public transport infrastructure.
Kaladze also highlighted the strategic partnership between Georgia and China, saying further economic cooperation could deepen ties between the two countries.
