German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, said, “Georgia, since the beginning of 2024, has been moving away from the European Union. The decision by the Georgian authorities apparently moving away at great speed in all the fundamental areas.”
The Ambassador noted that “The relationship with the European Union, with Germany, is in a deep crisis. I’m not sure there’s a way out. The key to the way out is in Georgia, only in Georgia. We have been good, reliable partners to Georgia since your independence.”
“We would like to continue, but only if Georgia wants to be a good partner to us as well. Visa-free privileges are a privilege. They depend on certain conditions, and the European Commission has now asked Georgia whether those conditions are still met, and we will see what the response is of the Georgian authorities, and we will take the necessary step,” Peter Fischer added.
