Georgia’s Minister of Infrastructure, Revaz Sokhadze, is on an official visit to Turkey, where he and his delegation reviewed several major highway and strategic infrastructure projects. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation and allow Georgia to benefit from Turkey’s extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure development.

“We got acquainted with the ongoing highway construction projects in the Republic of Turkey. It is important to share the experience of our neighboring country, especially given Turkey’s many years of success in implementing infrastructure projects. We agreed that cooperation will deepen further, and we will take concrete steps toward practical collaboration,” Sokhadze said after official meetings in Ankara.

As part of the visit, the Minister met with the Director General of the Turkish General Directorate of Highways and visited several key construction sites. Among them was the AnkaraKırıkkale–Delice Motorway (AKDO), a 120-kilometer, six-lane highway designed to boost regional connectivity, reduce travel times, and increase freight transport efficiency. Sokhadze also visited the Lalahan construction site, where he was briefed on the project’s technical specifications, and the Ankara–Niğde Motorway Transport Junction and Toll Road Monitoring and Management Center, which uses advanced digital control systems.

At each site, Turkish representatives presented detailed information about project implementation stages, quality control mechanisms, and management systems. During the visit, Sokhadze also expressed condolences to Turkish officials over the recent Turkish Air Force cargo plane crash that occurred in Georgia. The Georgian minister is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, as part of his visit.
