Mikael Agasandyan, Director of the First Department of CIS Countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry, emphasized the importance and benefits of Armenia’s participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
According to him, Armenia's membership in the EAEU has contributed significantly to the country’s economic growth, something that is evident even without in-depth analysis.
In an interview with RIA Novosti, Agasandyan expressed hope that Yerevan would not abandon its participation in the EAEU under the influence of the U.S. and the European Union, which, in his opinion, only "promise investments and a bright future." He stressed that the relationship between Moscow and Yerevan within the EAEU is based on mutually beneficial cooperation.
The Russian diplomat also noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has repeatedly stated his readiness to expand cooperation within the EAEU and work on initiatives that promote economic growth for all member states.
The EAEU, established on the foundation of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space, includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Armenia joined the union in 2015.
