Starting January 1, 2026, salaries for top Georgian officials, including the Prime Minister, President, ministers, and MPs, have increased as the new state budget officially comes into force. According to the approved 2026 budget, approximately 117,000 public sector employees will receive a 10% salary raise, bringing total public payroll spending to 3.4 billion GEL. The salary increase covers all categories of public officials, including high-level political officeholders in both the executive and legislative branches.
In Georgia, salaries of public officials are tied to the base salary established for the civil service. In 2025, the base salary was 1,460 GEL per month, but beginning in 2026, it has increased to 1,600 GEL. Each official’s salary is calculated by multiplying the base salary by a job-specific coefficient, which means salary increases automatically apply to everyone—from civil servants to top-ranking government leaders.
As a result, the annual salary for the President and Prime Minister in 2026 is now set at 192,000 GEL each. Ministers will earn 163,200 GEL annually, while deputy ministers will receive between 139,200 and 144,000 GEL depending on rank. The Speaker of Parliament will also earn 192,000 GEL per year, with deputies and committee chairs receiving slightly lower but still increased amounts. Ordinary members of parliament will now earn 153,600 GEL annually, representing an increase of 13,440 GEL compared to the previous year.
The government notes that raising the base salary ensures a systematic and automatic increase in the compensation of all public sector employees, meaning that any future upward adjustments to the base salary will continue to translate into higher pay across the entire public service.
