The state news agency Armenpress, summarizing Armenia's foreign policy achievements for 2024, highlighted the strengthening of Armenian-Georgian relations as a major accomplishment. According to Georgia's Ambassador to Armenia, Giorgi Sharvashidze, the declaration of strategic partnership signed in January marked a significant step in deepening bilateral cooperation and enhancing regional stability.
Key milestones included not only the signing of the declaration during Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s January visit to Tbilisi but also the opening of Georgia's new embassy building in Yerevan on March 25, attended by the heads of government from both countries. This marks the first purpose-built Georgian diplomatic mission in Armenia, located in the city center.
Ambassador Sharvashidze emphasized that collaboration between the two nations continues to expand across various sectors. Since July 1, 2023, citizens of both countries have been able to cross borders using biometric ID cards. In March 2024, the largest Georgian investment in Armenia to date was made when Bank of Georgia Group acquired Ameriabank for $303.6 million.
According to Armenpress, alongside strengthening ties with Georgia, 2024 also saw unprecedented improvements in Armenia's partnerships with the European Union and the United States, as well as progress in negotiations to normalize relations with Azerbaijan.
