Silk Road Group has released a statement regarding the arrest of its founder, Giorgi Ramishvili.
“On July 6, Giorgi Ramishvili was detained at Tbilisi International Airport during border control, after a legally purchased and registered firearm—authorised for storage—was found in his hand luggage.
We urge all parties to avoid spreading unverified information, as legal procedures are currently underway under relevant legislation,” the statement reads.
Giorgi Ramishvili, founder of Silk Road Group, Silknet, Euronews Georgia, and other companies, was arrested at the airport’s departure terminal on July 6. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he is under investigation for the alleged unlawful purchase, storage, and carrying of firearms.
