Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze says he is confident that the Anaklia–Ganmukhuri area will develop into a major tourism center, highlighting the strong potential of Georgia’s Black Sea coastline for attracting visitors and supporting regional growth.

According to Sokhadze, a large-scale project is being prepared to fully rehabilitate the Anaklia–Ganmukhuri coastal zone and build modern tourism infrastructure. After completion of the planning stage, a tender will be announced for construction works.

In parallel, emergency measures have already begun to address coastal erosion. The Roads Department is working to restore damaged sections, as the sea has reportedly advanced by around 100 meters in parts of Ganmukhuri, leading to land loss.

The ministry has also launched a broader study of erosion-prone areas along the Black Sea coast, involving international experts. The aim is to develop long-term solutions to protect the shoreline and support sustainable tourism and economic development.
