Finance Minister Lasha Kutsishvili declares that the Georgian government is interested in the implementation of Nenskra HPP project. Moreover, the Minister notes, that state involvement in the construction of large HPP projects is not excluded.
"We cannot talk about a large amount of financial participation in the HPP projects. If it is not possible to bring the project to the end, the state will consider participating on a small scale. I'm talking about a specific project, which construction is difficult without the state," said Lasha Khutsishvili.
The deadline for the construction of "Nenskra HPP" have already been violated several times, the Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili made a statement about this in May. The installed capacity of the HPP itself is 280 megawatts, and the investment volume of the project is USD 1.05 billion.
In August 2015, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced that the construction of the 280-megawatt Nenskra HPP was starting in Georgia.
According to the latest data, construction of Nenskra HPP would be finished by 2027.
