In March, Georgia’s State Electrosystem reported that a second 19 MW wind power plant was added to the grid. According to the published data, the wind farm operated by Zemo Wind LLC generated nearly 4 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity during the month.
The wind farm is located in the Kaspi municipality and has an installed capacity of 18.75 MW, with a projected annual output of 67 million kWh. The project is expected to contribute steadily to the country’s growing renewable energy production.
Zemo Wind LLC was established in 2022 and is fully owned by businessman Sulkhan Papashvili. According to company records, the project is being financed through credit provided by the Bank of Georgia.
In addition to this project, business registry data shows that Papashvili also holds a 50% stake in “Pirveli”, a company developing a 112 MW wind farm project near the villages of Uplistsikhe and Shavshvebi in Shida Kartli.
Overall statistics indicate that in January–March, two wind power plants in Georgia generated a total of 26 million kWh of electricity, accounting for less than 1% of total electricity production in the country.
