Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced that the EU foreign ministers will discuss Georgia’s political situation at today’s meeting. He expressed concerns about the Georgian government’s commitment to EU integration, stating that it seems unlikely the ruling party will follow through on its promises to move closer to the EU.

“Today we will discuss the issue of Georgia. We are concerned today as well we are going to have discussions about what we’re going to do because it’s sure that this ruling party is not going to follow actually the path towards the EU as they have been promising. This is an interesting discussion as well because we have been very supportive of Georgian people. So let’s see what’s going to happen with that,” said Margus Tsahkna.

The agenda of the meeting of the EU foreign ministers today includes the October 26 parliamentary elections in Georgia.
