Tbilisi City Hall will announce international tenders for the rehabilitation of metro stations in the capital, as local companies lack the necessary experience to carry out such specialized work, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated.
He highlighted that active cooperation is ongoing with international financial organizations, and several metro station rehabilitation projects will be unveiled in the near future.
“I always strive to be transparent about both our successes and the challenges we face. Yesterday, I provided the public with detailed information about the Varketili metro station. As for Guramishvili and other metro stations in poor condition that require renovation, we are collaborating with international organizations and will soon present specific projects. It’s important to note that we follow the protocols set by these international financial organizations, which take time. I’ve addressed this issue several times. The key reason is that, unfortunately, we lack the necessary expertise and companies capable of handling metro station rehabilitation within the country. Therefore, we will announce international tenders to allow foreign companies with extensive experience in this field to participate,” said Kakha Kaladze.
He further explained that the rehabilitation of the Varketili metro station will be carried out by a Belarusian company with significant experience in this area.
