The Tbilisi Development Fund plans to build three new residential buildings in the capital as part of the city’s program to replace unsafe apartment blocks. The total value of the construction procurements exceeds GEL 37.9 million. The projects will replace deteriorated residential buildings and provide new housing for affected residents.
The first project will be carried out at 8a Eldari Street, where a 12-story residential building will be constructed on a 572-square-meter plot. The project is valued at GEL 13.97 million and includes the relocation and reconstruction of utility and gas distribution networks. Construction is scheduled to be completed within 32 calendar months of signing the contract.
A second seven-story building will be constructed at 9g Mukhrani Street on a 1,407-square-meter plot, at a cost of GEL 10.16 million. The project also includes reconstruction of the natural gas network. The third project, at 47 Nagomari Street, involves a seven-story building on a 1,593-square-meter plot, with a contract value of GEL 11.62 million. The works will include landscaping-related activities and the design of a wastewater network. Both projects are also scheduled for completion within 32 months.
According to the Tbilisi Development Fund, the program involves demolishing deteriorated residential buildings and replacing them with new, structurally sound buildings. The municipality has agreed with residents on the size and location of replacement apartments, while property registration and project approvals are underway. The fund said the accelerated procurement process is also linked to the municipality’s ongoing costs for providing temporary rental compensation to residents living in unsafe buildings.
