Following the reopening of the road section from the Chovelidze Street intersection to Mikheil Javakhishvili Street as part of the ongoing Rustaveli Avenue rehabilitation project, a temporary traffic management scheme will take effect at midnight (00:00) on 11 September, Tbilisi City Hall has announced.
According to municipal authorities, vehicles travelling from the Philharmonic Concert Hall direction will be able to proceed towards the Rustaveli Metro Station via both Mikheil Javakhishvili Street (formerly Elbakidze Descent) and Dzmebi Kakabadzeebi Street.
“From Javakhishvili Street, motorists can continue towards Dzmebi Kakabadzeebi Street, head back towards the Philharmonic, or turn left onto Chovelidze Street. Vehicles originating from Dzmebi Kakabadzeebi Street will be permitted to proceed straight onto Javakhishvili Street or turn left towards the Philharmonic.
Temporary public transport routes traversing this sector will also undergo modification: buses, namely routes N301, 305, 306, 308, 309, 310, 314, 326, 331, 337, 342, 345, 352, 358, 359, 388, 391, and 397, alongside minibuses N457, 472, 532, 540, and 541, will proceed from Melikishvili Avenue towards Rustaveli Metro Station, descending via Mikheil Javakhishvili Street to reach the Right Embankment of the Mtkvari River. From there, services will connect to Baratashvili Street and follow their designated routes. In the reverse direction, vehicles will similarly utilise the Right Embankment and Mikheil Javakhishvili Street to reconnect with Kostava Street.
Two designated municipal transport stops will be operational on Mikheil Javakhishvili Street, outside No. 8 and opposite, as well as outside No. 14 and its opposite side,” City Hall confirmed in an official statement.
