Tbilisi City Hall confirmed that the tender for the new tram line will not be extended, with March 31 as the final date for companies to submit proposals. Deputy Mayor Giorgi Tkhemaladze said the design phase is expected to take six months, while the full project completion is planned within three years.

Tkhemaladze noted strong interest from international companies, including those from China and Turkey. He emphasized that all interested firms were supported during the proposal process, and deadlines were adjusted to allow all qualified participants to submit their bids.

Once the winning company is selected, contract signing will follow, and construction is expected to begin by the end of the year. The 7.5-kilometer tram line will run from Didube Metro to Dighomi Metro, with a tram depot also included in the project.

The tender process was first announced in October 2025, extended through January 2026, and reissued in February with the March 31 deadline. The extensions were intended to give companies sufficient time to prepare complete and competitive proposals.
