The Municipal Development Fund has opened tenders for the construction of a new national stadium in Tbilisi, designed to host 70,000 spectators. Three companies have submitted bids, with proposed costs ranging from GEL 744.9 million to GEL 850 million.
The Georgian construction company “Anagi” offered to design and build the stadium for GEL 850 million, while the Turkish company YDA İnşaat submitted the lowest bid at GEL 744.9 million. A joint bid from Makro Construction (Georgia) and Inshaatchi 3 LLC (Azerbaijan) came in at GEL 789.4 million.
The project will be implemented under Design-Build conditions, meaning the winning bidder will be responsible for both the architectural design and construction. The final structure must meet UEFA Category 4 standards, the highest level for international football venues.
Each participating company has submitted an irrevocable bank guarantee of GEL 8.7 million, as required by tender documentation.
“Anagi” previously built the Batumi Stadium for 20,000 spectators at a cost of GEL 145 million. At the same time, YDA İnşaat has extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure projects in Turkey, including highways, airports, and a 15,000-seat stadium in Karabük.
The new stadium will be constructed on a 270,000-square-meter site near Tbilisi International Airport. The winning bidder will have 51 months (approximately 4 years and 3 months) to complete the project, meaning the stadium’s completion is expected between 2029 and 2030.
