The Georgian Studies Center Opens at Yerevan State University

On March 25, Yerevan State University held the grand opening of the Georgian Studies Center with the participation of the Ministers of Education of Armenia and Georgia - Zhanna Andreasyan and Giorgi Amilakhvari.

Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan called the opening of the center a confirmation of the desire to deepen friendly relations between Armenia and Georgia.

She also noted that this event contributes to improving communication between the peoples of the two countries and promotes mutual understanding. Andreasyan expressed confidence that training specialists well-versed in Georgian issues contributes to establishing peace and stability in the region.

She also mentioned that Armenian schools are implementing a Georgian language education program. According to Zhanna Andreasyan, the expansion of this program was discussed with her Georgian counterpart Giorgi Amilakhvari.

Georgian Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Giorgi Amilakhvari called the opening of the Georgian Studies Center a "historic event."

He emphasized the importance of developing Georgian studies for Georgia and noted the long-standing and friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries. Amilakhvari expressed confidence that the center contributes to deepening and expanding cooperation in various fields.

"For us, close cooperation between Georgian and Armenian universities is important. With the opening of the center, we will raise the existing centuries-old relations to an even higher level," said the Georgian minister.

Earlier, BMG reported that from September 2024, a joint Armenian-Georgian master's scholarship program will be launched, which will give students from both countries the opportunity to study at universities in Armenia and Georgia. For this purpose, 10 scholarship places have been allocated.
