At a session on updated electricity tariffs, GNERC Chairman David Narmania stated that the regulator aims to minimize emergency failures and power outages in regional areas while ensuring investment projects in the grid do not overly increase tariffs.
Tariff formation takes into account energy volumes from each generation facility, investment impacts, and energy supply components. These factors allow GNERC to calculate fair electricity prices for both residential and non-residential consumers.
Narmania noted that electricity consumption in Georgia continues to grow, increasing dependence on imports and affecting costs. Investments by companies like Energo-Pro in regional networks are necessary to maintain reliability, though they influence tariffs.
The commission will review the presentation before finalizing new tariffs for Tbilisi and regional areas. The last tariff revision was in 2023, when electricity prices fell by 3 tetri for all consumers.
