During a press conference on March 12, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, declared the attainment of the economic growth target set by the government after 2021.
According to preliminary data, Armenia's economy demonstrated impressive growth at 8.7% in 2023. Despite some discrepancies between the Ministry of Finance and the Statistics Committee regarding precise figures, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that economic growth exceeds 8%, with possible adjustments in the future.
The government, formed after the extraordinary parliamentary elections in 2021, set a goal of achieving an average annual economic growth of 7% from 2021 to 2026. "This plan has proven itself, as economic growth reached 12.6% in 2022 and 5.8% in 2021. Thus, three years after the elections, the targeted economic growth has been successfully realized," stated Pashinyan.
During his address, the Prime Minister emphasized that the country's state interest lies in economic development, which should shape government policies and decisions. Economic growth, according to the Prime Minister, is a key factor in fully implementing the state agenda.
Pashinyan expressed gratitude to the citizens actively participating in the workforce, achieving results, and paying their lawful taxes. He also acknowledged individuals engaged in economic activities, contributing to the "record-breaking tax revenues for the 2023 budget, totaling 2 trillion 222 billion drams (over 5.5 billion dollars)."
"This figure exceeds the 2017 budget revenues by approximately 92%, or 1 trillion 64 billion drams (over 2.5 billion dollars)," stated Nikol Pashinyan.
