The Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee discussed the Agreements for Ratification, introduced by the Deputy Finance Minister, Mamuka Baratashvili.
As the reporter elucidated, two agreements on cooperation in tax and customs spheres with the EU concluded on June 3, 2022, envisage the allocation of aid from the EU for the participation of Georgia in the economic and customs programs.
“The conclusion of the documents derives from the Association Agreement. Participation in the tax and customs programs will enhance the local market and facilitate fair competition in the EU”.
The reporter overviewed certain activities to be funded within the project – working meetings, project-based structural cooperation, IT capacity improvement, cooperation between the tax agencies, workshops, training, pilot programs etc.
The Committee approved both Agreements – on Participation of Georgia in the EU Tax Program; and on Participation of Georgia in the EU Customs Program.
