The second temporary bridge that was installed was washed away by the river, and accordingly, we are now installing a new bridge, Minister of Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze told journalists in Shovi, the disaster area.

According to him, the number of equipment is increasing every day and a larger area is being covered, which helps the rescue operation significantly.

"Works are continuing intensively. We added the 9th location, we managed to reach it from the bed even with heavy equipment, right next to the canteen of the cottages, therefore, we can already work in the area and we are working. In addition, the second temporary bridge that was installed was washed away by the river and therefore we are now installing a new bridge. We tried to seize the bridge that was taken, checked it, but it is not fit for reuse, therefore, a new bridge was brought. The number of equipment is increasing daily and a larger area is being covered, which greatly helps the rescue operation. The biggest challenge and the biggest difficulty are the working conditions, which are related to the composition of the mass, which is very difficult to process. Nevertheless, the work continues in a very intensive mode with the involvement of rescuers, the army and heavy equipment. It has to be said that a lot of work has been done over the period and every rescuer, every military, every heavy equipment operator, every contractor company has been involved from start to finish and the best that is possible under the circumstances has been presented. Yesterday, the unloading of the bridge began, its assembly took place, and today it is already being installed, each person is involved from the beginning to the end.

Two bridges were washed away, one of them which was the most critical according to the plan, was installed in time, this allowed us to transport a large amount of equipment to the disaster area. In addition, an alternative way was a very important decision, which gave us the opportunity to approach the acidic waters," said the Minister.
