Ran Gidor, Ambassador of Israel to Georgia, responded to the statement made by the Ministry of Health of Israel, which warned the public against traveling to a large number of destinations, including Georgia. In light of soaring infection rates around the world, the Ministry of Health advises the public against non-essential international travel at present time.
According to Ran Gidor, there are no currently prohibitions, restrictions or obstacles preventing Israelis from travelling to Georgia.
“On the contrary, there are between 3 and 5 daily flights connecting our 2 countries and in April Israelis constituted the 2nd biggest group of foreign visitors to Georgia (after Turkey). The Israeli government is obliged to provide an updated warning to its citizens on the COVID19 situation in all countries around the world. This update is based on the official statistics published by the governments of those countries. The list is reviewed and amended on a weekly basis and I am confident that the gradually improving situation in Georgia will be reflected very soon in the next updates. We are looking forward to a speedy return to the pre-pandemic situation in 2019, when over 200,000 Israelis visited Georgia and enjoyed no less than 42 direct flights a week," Ran Gidor told BM.GE.
Ministry of Health of Israel warns the public against traveling to a large number of destinations, including the following regions and destinations: Georgia, the Indian sub-continent, Africa, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates, the Bahamas, Estonia, Equador, Bulgaria, Belgium, Belarus, Germany, the Philippines, Tanzania, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Egypt, Kenya, Croatia and Rwanda.
