The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has emphasized that in order to maintain economic growth, Georgia must strengthen its position as a key connectivity hub in the region. According to ADB, enhancing infrastructure and logistics networks, as well as deepening regional and global integration, will be crucial for the country's future growth.
Lesley Bearman Lahm, ADB’s Permanent Representative in Georgia, pointed out that despite global challenges, Georgia's economy has shown resilience. However, external risks, including geopolitical tensions and the war in Ukraine, may threaten economic activity and increase inflationary pressures. To counter these challenges, Georgia should focus on expanding trade networks, improving infrastructure, and boosting private sector support to ensure sustained growth.
ADB suggests that Georgia's continued investment in key sectors like infrastructure, transportation, and regional partnerships will solidify its position as a vital economic hub. Strengthening these areas will allow the country to better navigate external shocks and contribute to regional economic integration.
As Georgia continues to enhance its connectivity, it will be able to better capitalize on its geographical advantages and maintain a competitive edge in the global economy.
