Travel insurance premiums in Georgia totaled GEL 12.1 million in the first nine months of 2025, according to new data released by the State Insurance Supervision Service. The figure marks an annual increase of GEL 600,000 compared to the same period last year, indicating steady growth in demand for travel-related coverage.

The report notes that as of September 30, 2025, 19 insurance companies were operating in the country with both life and non-life insurance licenses. Across all insurance categories, companies attracted GEL 1.098 billion in premiums from direct activities during the reporting period.

Despite the rise in overall premiums, industry profitability slightly declined. Insurers recorded GEL 272 million in insurance profit and GEL 113 million in net profit, representing a GEL 2 million decrease year-on-year. The decline comes despite consistent expansion in the insurance market.

The sector's financial position remains strong, with total assets reaching GEL 1.696 billion and capital amounting to GEL 517 million. According to the supervisory body, this reflects nearly 11% annual growth in the asset base, underscoring stable development across Georgia’s insurance industry.
