The Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has commented on the potential impact of a Donald Trump victory in the upcoming US presidential election. Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze suggested that a Trump win could lead to an earlier end to the war in Ukraine and, consequently, bring stability to the region, positively affecting Georgia.
“First, we certainly cannot interfere in anyone’s elections. Moreover, we cannot interfere in the presidential elections of such a big country, the USA; it is not our business. The only thing that can be said is that if Trump wins this election, the war in Ukraine will end sooner and, accordingly, our region will calm down sooner, which will change the attitude towards Georgia in particular. If there is peace in the region, the attitude towards Georgia will also change. This is all that can be said about it. The rest is the choice of the American people. The American people should decide who will be the president of the USA,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
US President Joe Biden announced he will not run in the 2024 presidential election and has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate. The former President and presidential candidate Donald Trump remarked that “Harris will be easier to beat than Biden would have been.”
