The Prosecutor’s Office has charged two individuals with embezzling a large amount of property after allegedly selling 194 cattle belonging to a Dutch citizen and appropriating the proceeds.

According to the investigation, the suspects were responsible for caring for the livestock but illegally alienated the cattle, valued at 298,170 GEL, and kept the money from the sale. One of the defendants has been charged in absentia.

Both individuals face charges under Article 182 of the Criminal Code for group embezzlement of a large amount of property, an offense punishable by seven to eleven years in prison.

The Prosecutor’s Office stated it will apply to the court to request pre-trial detention for the accused within the legally established timeframe.
