U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya has confirmed that an American military representative will be working in Armenia's Ministry of Defense.
Uzra Zeya visited Armenia from July 13-16. In an interview with Hetq.am, she discussed Armenian-American cooperation, Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations mediated by the U.S., the right of Artsakh Armenians to return, the preservation of Armenian heritage in Artsakh, and democratic reforms in Armenia.
When asked if she could confirm the appointment of an American military representative in Armenia's Ministry of Defense, Zeya replied, "I confirm this news. It is a long-awaited event. You can get more details from our ambassador and news department. We welcome the deepening of defense-civilian and security cooperation between the United States and Armenia. This also marks a historic shift towards a new phase of strategic partnership in Armenian-American relations."
