On September 11, Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and John Allelo, Director of the USAID Mission in Armenia, signed an amendment to the development cooperation grant agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the United States of America.
According to the signed document, the amount of financial aid under the USAID agreement more than doubles, increasing from $120 million to $250 million.
In addition to the increased funding, the scope of joint programs has been significantly expanded. The Armenian government announced that the enhanced agreement will cover key areas such as disaster risk management, cybersecurity, food and energy security, regional cooperation and trade, democratic processes, and inclusive economic development.
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan emphasized the importance of not only financial support but also the promotion of democratic values, innovative ideas, and a developed business culture through joint projects.
"Their implementation in our country enables us to carry out fundamental reforms and improve the quality of life for citizens," Grigoryan noted, expressing gratitude to the U.S. for supporting Armenia’s ambitious reform agenda.
USAID Mission Director John Allelo stated: "This amendment demonstrates our commitment to partnership with Armenia. By increasing our support and expanding our programs, we are helping Armenia grow and succeed. Our work with the Armenian government and ministries plays a crucial role in achieving our shared goals.
